Here we detail the services provided by the consulate section of the Yemeni Embassy in South Africa. Our services cover citizens of South Africa. These services include:

Rules & Regulations

Consulate Office Services Rules and Regulations

​

The Consular Section shall certify the documents in ONLY one of the following languages: Arabic or English.

​

To authenticate documents in any other language, a certified translation of the original document is required. The certified translation will not be accepted without attaching the original document.

​

Bilingual documents are accepted for authentication provided that they are in Arabic or English.

​

Copies of documents or handwritten documents will not be accepted.

​

A cover letter containing details of the service required from the Consular Section signed and dated on the day of submission should be attached.

All transaction won’t be dealt with unless all required documents have been completed and the fees are paid.

All documents should be delivered to the address of the Embassy either by hand, through an authorized third party, or by registered mail to the Embassy’s address:

The Consular Section shall not bear the costs of sending the documents through registered mail. A request to resend the documents to the consignee shall be requested along with the address and the payment of the registered return mail.

The Consular Services fees shall be transferred to the Consulate's Bank account. The bank payment notice shall be attached to the rest of documents of each transaction:

In case of payment in cash, make sure to get the original receipt of the fees paid to the Consular Section.

Working hours at the Consulate are during the business days are as follows:

Transactions can be submitted by hand during Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 09:00 to 13:00

Documents Attestation

Attesting Personal Documents

​

                                                                 applies to attesting personal documents, in addition to:

  1. Documents issued by institutions in the Republic of Yemen must be attested by the Consular Affairs Department at the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs or one of the Ministry’s branches in the governorates.

  2. Documents issued by South African authorities and institutions must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the concerned country prior to being authenticated by the Yemeni Embassy in South Africa.

  3. The completion of the transaction requires baring the original Identity Card (recent) or a valid passport.

  4. In case of sending documents by mail, you must attach a copy of your ID card and / or a copy of your valid passport (in some cases, you may be required to send the original ID Card or passport at any time verification before completing the transaction).

Attesting Commercial Documents

The general rules of Consular Services shall apply to the attestation of commercial documents in addition to the following:

  1. The Chamber of Commerce and the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) must approve or certify any commercial document issued there.

  2. Any commercial invoice must be accompanied by a certificate of origin and approved by the Chamber of Commerce and the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa.

  3. Certified copies of documents will not be attested unless it was certified by the issuer and attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affair of the corresponding country.

  4. An application is expected to be processed within 4 working days.

  5. You may request to expedite the process for additional administration fees.

Legal Status attestation

The general rules and regulations applies to Legal Status attestation in addition to:

  1. The grantor and two witnesses must be present, all with valid Identification Cards

  2. The embassy authenticate the grantor’s signature, thumb finger print, and the presence of the witnesses. The embassy doesn’t bear any responsibility with regard to the content of the attestation.

  3. An appointment must arranged in advance with the secretary of the consulate.

  4. The application is expected to be processed within the same working day.

‍Commercial attestations

  1. The general rules and regulations applies to Commercial attestations in addition to:

  2. The grantor and two witnesses must be present, all with valid Identification Cards

  3. The embassy attest the grantor’s signature, thumb finger print, and the presence of the witnesses. The embassy doesn’t bear any responsibility with regard to the content of the authorization.

  4. The application is expected to be processed within the same working day.

  5. Commercial authorizations fees.

Passport Issuance Services

Remarks Regarding Passports Issuance:

​

  • All processed applications are sent from consulate office at the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen to the Yemeni consulate in Jeddah and Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is responsible of issuing passports through a modern automated system. All passports must be approved firstly by the Unified Automatic Issuance Center in Yemen.

  • Complete applications takes between 14 to 30 days.

  • Lost passports takes 45 days minimum.

  • Consulate office is not responsible for any delay or rejection of applications that are incomplete or do not fulfill the requirements.

  • Prior to sending the original old passport along with the application, make sure to print a true copy of the passport, and keep it in a safe place.

  • Please save the Tracking Number of the application for follow ups or inquiries.

Passport Issuance/ Renewal

​

The general rules and regulations applies to passport issuance in addition to:

  • Attach the original passport you wish to renew/replace with the application

  • Fill-in the application form #2 and pay attention to the following instructions:

  • The triple name and surname must be written in both Arabic and English and according to the official documents. Any application without a quadruple name will be rejected
    → Date of Birth must be written in the form (DAY/MONTH/YEAR). E.g. (19/12/1981)
    → In case you request to modify the date of birth, please attach the original or colored true copy of the birth certificate.
    → Provide the triple name of the mother along with her nationality.
    → Provide the permanent address of residence in South Africa with a valid personal phone No., in addition to the address and phone number in Yemen.
    →Provide the names of relatives residing in Yemen along with the relationships, phone numbers, and addresses as indicated in the application form.
    → Provide the left finger print and signature in the specified place of the application form.

  • Attach a copy of residence permit (if applicable)

  • A recent colored passport photo with white background size (6x4) cm, and make sure:

           → Not to wear medical or sun glasses
           → Not to wear Hats of any shape or form.

  • If you wish to modify occupation, please provide a proof of the new occupation. If you wish to modify it to businessman, Please provide the commercial register.

  • Provide a copy of Marital licence certified  by the official authorities in case you were applying for a spouse.

  • Note: Once the new passports are issued, old passports are voided and returned along with the new passports.

Passport issuance for minors below the age of 18

​

All rules and instructions of issuing passports apply to this section in addition to the following:

  1. Each child must have a seperate application form (Quadruple name of the child must be provided as written in the birth certificate and father’s passport)

  2. Attach a copy of father’s passport and residence permit.

  3. Attach a copy of mother’s passport and residence permit.

  4. Attach the birth certificate of the child or a true copy.

  5. If the child was born in South Africa, the birth certificate must be firstly authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the corresponding country.

Passport issuance for students

​

All rules and instructions of issuing a passports apply to this section in addition to the following

  1. Attach the university/school ID. In case the ID does not state your current year of study, provide an acknowledgment letter from the university/school that include your current status and year of study.

Passport issuance for damaged or lost passports

All rules and instructions of issuing a passports apply to this section in addition to the following:

  1. Attach a police report for each lost passport.

  2. Provide a clear copy of the lost passport.

  3. Attach a colored copy of the Yemeni Identification Card.

  4. In case of damaged passport, attach the damaged passport

  5. Passport issuance fees for damaged passports

Section 14 of the passport act state that the holder of a damaged passport shall be fined no more than the cost of a passport, and the holder of a lost passport shall be fined no more than double the cost of a passport.

Visa Issuance Services

NOTICE:

Entry visa requests to Yemen are currently on hold; entry visas are issued only for foreigners with Yemeni origins and for those working in international organizations, journalists and media delegates, and diplomats.
