Climate Information

Southern Yemen is very hot and humid during summer, while the north is more moderate. Winter months from December to March are moderate.

The monetary unit is the Yemeni Riyal, divided into 100 Fils. The symbol for the Riyal is YR. The Yemeni Riyal is pegged to the US Dollar at US$1.00 = YR0.3845.

 

The currency is not freely convertible.

state & official visits/bilateral meetings

Since 1994 a number of South African dignitaries have visited Yemen such as:

  • May 2000: Visit to Yemen by Minister Dullah Omar, Minister of Transport.

 

  • 2003: Visit to Yemen by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Aziz Pahad.

  • 28-29 September 2005: Visit to Yemen by Minister of Trade and Industry, Mandise Mpahlwa and a business delegation.
